FAQ'S
Are your patterns beginner friendly?
Yes! My patterns are designed to be actually beginner friendly and I try to make the instructions as easy to follow as possible. I’m a very visual learner myself, so I include lots of diagrams and photos throughout the instructions to help you along the way.
Do your patterns include seam allowances?
Yes! Unless otherwise stated, 1cm seam allowances are included in my patterns. You don't need to add your own seam allowance before cutting.
How do I print my PDF pattern?
Print your pattern at 100% / actual size and make sure your printer isn't set to "fit to page" or "scale to fit".
There will be a test square on the pattern that you can measure before cutting to make sure it's printed at the correct scale.
How do I put the printed A4 pattern together?
Trim the paper along the dotted borders and match the markings on each page before taping them together.
Tip: You can stack several pages together and cut through them at once to make the process much quicker.
A0 doesn't need taping, you simply just need to cut it out.
What size should I choose?
Always check the size chart for the individual pattern rather than choosing your usual ready-to-wear size. Sewing pattern sizes can be very different from shop bought clothing sizes. I recommend measuring your bust, waist and hips and choosing your size based on the pattern's measurements.
What if I'm between sizes?
That's totally fine! You can grade between sizes where needed. For example, if your bust and hips fall into one size but your waist is a size larger, you can smoothly grade out to the larger size at the waist rather than cutting one size throughout.
Do I have to print the whole pattern?
Not necessarily. Some patterns include options such as no-print pattern pieces to reduce the amount of paper required. Check the individual pattern listing to see exactly what is included.
Do I need an overlocker?
No! An overlocker isn't required for my patterns. If you don't have one, you can use a zig-zag stitch on a regular sewing machine to finish your seams.
What fabric should I use?
We love natural, woven fabrics. Each pattern has its own recommended fabric and fabric requirements. This is in the instructions booklet.
How much fabric do I need?
Fabric requirements vary depending on the pattern, size and fabric width. You'll find the full fabric requirements in the pattern product page and instructions. Please check these before purchasing your fabric, as fabric quantities can vary significantly between sizes.
Can I make alterations to the pattern?
Absolutely! Sewing your own clothes means you can customise them to fit your body. You can grade between sizes, adjust length, alter the fit and make other small modifications depending on your sewing experience.
Can I make the pattern without an overlocker?
Yes! A regular sewing machine is all you need. Use a zig-zag stitch or another suitable seam-finishing method instead of an overlocker.
Where do I get my pattern after purchasing?
Your pattern is a digital PDF download, so nothing will be posted to you. After purchasing, you'll receive an email with a link to download your files. Make sure you check your junk/spam folder if you can't see it.
I didn’t receive my pattern files, what should I do?
First, double check the email address you used at checkout. We often find that the order has been placed using an old or previous email address. Then search your inbox for “Danni Rose Designs” your pattern email may have landed in your junk, spam or promotions folder. If you still can’t find your files after checking these places, please get in touch and I’ll be happy to help.
What should I do if I’m having trouble downloading my pattern?
Before emailing us, please try the following:
- Check your Files/Downloads folder on your phone or device, as the ZIP file may have downloaded without opening automatically.
- Open the download link in a browser such as Safari or Google Chrome rather than your email app, as some email apps can block downloads or pop-ups.
- Refresh the page and click the download link again.
- Try a different browser if you're still having trouble.
If you've tried all of the above and still can't download your pattern, please email us and we'll be happy to help!
Can I use my pattern digitally instead of printing it?
Yes, depending on how you prefer to work. You can view the PDF instructions on your phone, tablet or computer while sewing. For the pattern pieces themselves, you'll generally need to print them or have them printed at a copy shop unless you're using a projector.
Can I purchase your patterns from outside New Zealand?
Absolutely. Danni Rose sewing patterns are digital, so you can purchase and sew them from anywhere in the world.
Can I get a refund if I change my mind?
Because sewing patterns are digital products that are delivered immediately, refunds generally aren't available once the files have been downloaded. If you've purchased the wrong pattern, can't access your files or have an issue with your download, please get in touch and I'll do my best to help.
I'm stuck on something in the instructions. Can you help?
Of course! If you're stuck, send me an email with a photo of what you're working on, and I'll do my best to point you in the right direction
